Water Services
604-885-6800
1975 Field Road, Sechelt (Wilson Creek)
The Sunshine Coast Regional District manages several water services in the area, the largest being the South Pender Harbour Water Works (formerly South Pender Harbour Water District), which they acquired in 2007. This system supplies most of Madeira Park with water from Haslam Lake.
In 2005, the SCRD acquired North Pender Harbour Water Works (formerly Garden Bay Water Works and a system in Irvine’s Landing), and they plan to merge all of their Pender Harbour water systems. The SCRD hopes to eventually have a coast-wide water supply system.
The SCRD announced Oct. 2 that it will designate a $10,000 Ministry of Community Services grant for a Pender Harbour water-treatment feasibility study. This study will compare treatment facility and technology options, and will lead to implementation of the Area A Master Water Treatment Plan, which will cost about $7 million.
