Pender Harbour-Egmont (Area A) is an unincorporated area of the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD), incorporated Jan. 4/67. The SCRD, with the taxes it collects, manages parks, landfill sites, building permits, regional parks, some community services and other functions, i.e. recreation and library service. Zoning, land-use and other bylaws are tied to our Official Community Plan and enforced by the SCRD.

Regional Director

John Rees, 604-883-9033

Regional Director John Rees is our elected representative at the SCRD board, which comprises representatives for Areas B to E, Sechelt and the Sechelt Indian Band. E-mail jarees@dccnet.com.

Barrie Wilbee is the alternate for Director Rees, assisting with Police and Transportation among other issues. Call him at 604-883-2243.

Area A Planning Commission (APC)

APC members are appointed by the Regional Director to provide local knowledge, community feedback, opinions and recommendations on subdivision and other land-use applications to be considered at SCRD board and committee meetings.

Current APC members are Geoff Craig (Chair), Paul Cuppin, Jim Hall, Rick Harmer, Laura Jensen, Ryan Longtenburg, Grant McBain, Jane McOuat, Rob Metcalfe, John Paine, Ted Taylor, Barrie Wilbee and Myrtle Winchester.

Area A APC meetings are held most months and usually not in summer. These are public meetings, but discussion items must be put on the agenda in advance.
