Iona C Dedicated
Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, the Honourable Iona Campagnolo, christened the Pender Harbour Marine Rescue Society’s newly built vessel, the Iona C, in a Sept. 8, 2007, ceremony at Seafarer’s Park. Her honour smashed a bottle of champagne on the vessel’s hull and was given a tour of the inner waters of Pender Harbour on her namesake. The event was attended by Canadian Coast Guard dignitaries, Area Director John Rees and Pender Harbour Marine Rescue Society members. The Iona C replaces the society’s first vessel, the Harold Clay.
